Photograph of some of the invited guests at the opening ceremony held in the Council chambers at the Borough Hall on November 6, 1970 for the celebration of South River's 250th anniversary. The men in the front row are former mayors (from left to right) James B. Armstrong, John F. Fitzpatrick, Matthew A. Maliszewski, Walter W. Schack, and Edmund J. Luker.
Local officials are in the row behind the mayors. From left to right: John Froude, John Knoblock, Richard Reichenbach, Edwin Zuczek, and John Colonna. Elizabeth Klauser Booraem, the oldest native born South River resident, is along the wall in the row behind the officials.
A note handwritten on the back in blue ink reads "November 1970, Opening ceremonies - Salute to Ex-Mayors: James B. Armstrong, John F. Fitzpatrick, Matthew A. Maliszewski, Walter W. Schack, Edmund Luker. Lady against wall - Mrs. Raymond D. Booraem, Sr. - Oldest native resident."
"Photography by Harold Rosenthal, 37 Washington Street, South River, NJ 08882" is stamped on the back in black ink. The left edge has the remains of an orange sticker.
Additional small markings have been made in the white border on the front of the photograph.
