Segment of a scrapbook page holding two black and white photographs of the rebuilding of the South River bridge, one on each side of the sheet.
The photograph on one side was taken on the bridge itself showing the wooden boards, trolley tracks, and railings. Small groups of people are scattered across the bridge and several buildings on the Causeway are visible. A piece of construction equipment is also visible in the right foreground. A typed label affixed underneath the photograph reads: "Rebuilding South River Bridge, South River, N.J., Aug. 21st, 1916".
The second photograph features the construction site with the river visible in the bottom of the frame. The bridge railing is in the left foreground. A piece of construction equipment is at the left and has text reading, "2, General Contracting and Engineering Co., 29 Broadway, N.Y.". A typed label affixed underneath the photograph reads: "Rebuilding South River Bridge, South River, N.J., Aug. 21st, 1916".
The two photographs were taken from the Sayreville end looking toward South River. Several buildings on the Causeway are visible in both images.
Photographs are mounted on black scrapbook paper and measure approximately 8-5/8" x 6-1/2".Photograph Details
