Description
Photograph showing the American Enameled Brick & Tile Co. float for the parade celebrating the 200th Anniversary of South River in 1920. The float includes a model of a kiln, a canopy, and a banner that reads "1893 - 1920, American Enameled Brick & Tile Co., Mfrs. of Enameled & Fire Brick." Photograph shows the float parked between a building to the right and railroad cars to the left with a team of decorated horses at the front and a group of men facing the camera.
The float is described in a September 25, 1920 article in the Daily Home News. "The American Enameled Brick and Tile Company had a unique exhibit in line. A kiln made of brick-marked paper was very attractive. Several men were on the float and went through the operation of making their product. Small souvenir bricks were distributed among the spectators along the line of march." It won second prize for the best float.
Photograph is mounted on cardboard measuring 7 3/4" X 9 1/2" and is in excellent condition with only very light breakage and staining on the cardboard backing that does not affect the photograph itself. Very light scratching appears throughout the photograph.
