Photograph of a group of five members of the VFW during the Veterans Day ceremony at the South River War Memorial Library in November 1970. Four of the men are presenting rifles and the fifth is saluting.
Two automobiles and a group of spectators are visible in the background in front of two buildings. The building on the left Is a house with bunting across the front and a banner for the 250th anniversary between two of the second floor windows. The banner matches the one on the second building. A sign in one of the second floor windows reads "Daniel L. Golden Law Offices."
The brick building at the right is 77 Main Street. Bunting and a banner that reads "Our 250th Anniversary, Our Loyalty to South River" decorate the space below the second floor windows. The leftmost second floor window has a worn lettering that reads "Dentist." A man is visible in another second floor window. The ground floor has a storefront on the left with no visible sign to identify it. A doorway in the middle of the building has a decorative pediment, the number 77, and a door with partially visible lettering. At the right edge is a second storefront with a stylized A painted on the glass. The remainder of text is out of frame, but identifies the Arnold Studio of Photography.
"Photography by Ken James - Industrial, Commercial, Portraiture, Insurance - Phone: 6502" is stamped on the back in blue ink.
This photograph is the fourth of seven in the set of images from Veterans Day.
Black and white photograph measures 5" x 7" and is in fair condition with the exception of the lower left corner, a portion of which is missing due to water damage.Photograph Details
