The photograph was taken at the opening ceremony for the celebration of South River's 250th anniversary. The event was held in the Council chambers in the Borough Hall on November 6, 1970.
A note handwritten on the back in blue ink reads " November 1970, Old Buddies, Ex-Mayor James B. Armstrong, U.S. Congressman Edward J. Patten."
"Photography by Harold Rosenthal, 37 Washington Street, South River, NJ 08882" is stamped on the back in black ink.
