Description

Photograph of the new Police Department communications console in the Borough Hall. Standing (from left to right) are Police Chief Matthew G. Zaleski, Congressman Edward J. Patten, and Mayor Walter C. Kulik. Sargeant Joseph Stashkevetch is seated at the console. Patten and Kulik are wearing carnations for the opening ceremony held on November 6, 1970 for the celebration of South River's 250th anniversary. Zaleski appears to be wearing a Steering Committee ribbon. A note handwritten on the back in blue ink reads "November 1970, Console - Communications Room. Police Captain Matthew G. Zaleski, U.S. Congressman Edward J. Patten, Mayor Walter C. Kulik, Sgt. Joseph Staskkevetzh." "Photography by Harold Rosenthal, 37 Washington Street, South River, NJ 08882" is stamped on the back in black ink. The left edge has the remains of an orange sticker. Additional small markings have been made in the white border on the front of the photograph. Black and white photograph measures 8" x 10" and is in good condition with the exception of some spotting on the back.
