Photograph thought to show members of the Senior Citizens group in costume during the parade held for the celebration of South River's 250th anniversary in 1970. The man and woman in the forefront and the woman at the right edge of the photograph appear to be wearing Steering Committee ribbons.
The sign on the front of the bus following the marchers reads "Senior Citizens ??? of South River."
The view is from lower Main Street looking toward the river. The Blue Moon Restaurant, at the corner of Main Street and Stephen Street, and other storefronts are visible along with a large group of spectators. Stores include Sherwin Williams Paints and Wallpaper, South River Appliance advertising GE Appliances, and Wilshire Fashions. The South River Trust Company building and the Hotel Pershing are visible in the distance.
Black and white photograph measures 5" x 7" and is in fair condition with the exception of the lower left corner, a portion of which is missing due to water damage.Photograph Details
