Poem is titled "South River" and reads as follows.
The year is 1720
South River was founded
Immigrants from tall ships finally landed
Some Indians occupied the land
Where the river ran fast and deep
Alas a place to start anew
A place to reap not weep
Soil and rubble
Toil and Trouble
All who came persevered
Now it can be said
South River came alive
Thanks to all who preceeded us
From all of us who reside
