The caption reads, "Ten of the men who guided South River as mayors over the past 40 years returned to Borough Hall Friday night to help open the community's 250th anniversary observance. Each spoke briefly, some recalling their experiences in office, others expressing pride in the fact that a community a quarter millenium old is still making progress. Mayor Walter Kulik saluted his predecessors, and all South Riverites, as a "great breed of people." And guest speaker Edward Patten, Middlesex County's congressman, regaled onlookers with references to the more colorful periods in local history -- such as bootlegging."
