Nowlin's father moved to Clarks with his father from Pine Bluff, Missouri; grandfather worked at Central Louisiana Lumber Co. and his father joined to after being married; Nowlin's parents moved to Standard in 1910 and his father worked on the log trains; the town was split into housing groups of the Italians (Dagos), the Blacks (Negros), Stump Town (mainly whites) and the (log) camps; Nowlin lived in Stump Town; tells of the layout of the town and where the buildings were located and who worked there; Nowlin went to the Olla-Standard school and started work at age 12 at the mill pond; other jobs he did was build furnaces and "in the mill" at 10 cents and hour; went into the Air Force at 21Other Names and Numbers
