Title

The Original Crowell & Spencer Tramway 1895-1906

Description

has been a mystery as where the woods tramway was for the Crowell & Spencer Lumber Co. in Long Leaf; few clues on it heading south from the Long Leaf Mill, the Red River & Gulf Railroad tracks going further to Kelley, Ashmore, and Osborn, newspaper accounts of a tram road from Long Leaf to Lecompte and to a photo of a shay #1 on an unknown line; the Alexandria Town Talk mentions a tramway, and it was not welled liked and had many accidents happen upon it; looking at railroad maps if the early 1900s when the Red River & Gulf Railroad began operations and where it went; railway schedules in the Official Guide of the Railways clearly show show how far south the Red River & Gulf Railroad was going but those tracks didn't belong to the RR&G; by 1912 service to Ashmore and beyond to Osborn ends; Lueck then gives a detail explanation of his research and how it came to be and where he thinks the lost Crowell tramway was; uses a Lidar map and self made Google Earth map on where he thinks the tramway ran
