Title

Letter of Statement of Forestry Foreman

Description

on letterhead from Headquarters Louisiana Camp S-55 Co. 1489 of Winnfield, LA (CCC); both written on the same date, detailing problems with a forestry foreman; first page: a complaint about the forestry foreman making a comment of the "Morgan trial" on a testimony by a Lieutenant Jimmie Douglass; second and third pages: a list of 10 instances of soon-to-be written reports on this forestry foreman; the foreman was brought there to build a log mansion and it is to be finished by Jan 1st 1934 but he is taking his time and is wanting extra pay or supplies to be provided but the CCC cannot give it, it is the Army's, but this forestry foreman will not go to the district Commander headquarters; with the added expenses the forestry foreman wished to build another building for forestry personnel only (this underlined) and Hemphill does not think this a good idea; the foreman was told to only make the frame and roof and the Army would finish it but he went ahead and made walls from lumber in Mansfield without asking permission; instead of coming to Hemphill for grievances of things, he goes about spreading gossip to the enrollees instead; an instance with some guest of the forestry personnel not getting supper and the foreman did not do anything but direct them to Hemphill to complain; Hemphill then closes that he does not want this log mansion with foresters and more reports will be coming
