2 pairs of boxing gloves used by John L. Sullivan, the last bare knuckle boxing champion. He was also the first Heavyweight Champion to wear boxing gloves as early as 1880. He held the title from 1882 to 1892. During this decade, He defended his title three times under the London Prize Ring rules which required the fighters to use their bare knuckles; against Paddy Ryan In 1882, against Charlie Mitchell in 1888, and lastly against Kilrain in 1889. Other time he defended his title under the Marquess of Queensberry rules whereby boxers wore gloves. The most famous fight under these rules occurred between John L. Sullivan and James J. Corbett on September 7th, 1892 in New Orleans.
