Description

Two tintypes of the Day family, both set in gold tone foil frames inside a folding book frame. Adelia Harlow Day and son Harry Day on left; George B. Day pictured opposite. The outside is dark reddish-brown leather, worn in places, with a painted gilt border and an ornate cross-like flourished design raised in the center. There are two metal loops on one side meant to hold the clasps, which are missing. On that same side of the book, the top part of the leather frame is missing and part of the lining is loose. On the other side of the book, one of the sides of the leather is missing and the lining is visible. There is cardboard and paper under the leather cover. Inside, the book has a scalloped gilt border painted on. Each image is housed in an oval frame made of gold-colored foil with ornate designs along the borders. Adelia is wearing a polka-dotted dress with white cuffs and collar, a brooch at her collar and a black bonnet with the ribbons hanging down to her shoulders. She is sitting down, holding Harry, who looks to be around a year old. George is also seated, in a suit, leaning on his right arm. Size in frame is 2.825 x 3.375 inches, about .9" thick, black and white, no negative. Scanned image, 300 ppi, Tif format, on disk
