BACK: "The Thurston girls won their first county championship in 1927, as reported in the Register-Guard, Feb. 28, 1927. They beat Walker, 24-22. Vida won the 1928 championship, which would have been for the school year 1927-1928. Thus, either this is the school year 1926-1927 girls championship team or it is another team (1927-28 or some other) which did not win the county championship. The Thurston girls again won the county championship in 1930. The 1927 championship game lists the following Thurston players in the box score: Russell, M. Clement, Ziegler, Rhodes, J.
