Written on the back by the donor's father Leland Davidson; "1913 Weber, Watson, Ferrel, Charles Croner, Nusbaum. Horse drawn fire wagon on right discontined. Chemical instead of pumper Operated from hydrants only. New Knott Fire Truck. First motorized vechicle and pumper, 750 pumper. When the Booth Kelly mill burned in Springfield in 1911. This team and fire wagon responded. After running the horses at a full gallop the 3 miles. The horses were covered with white lather. The men rubbed them down and blanked them. The famous run was of no use, too far to hook up with a hydrant and being chemical insteaf of pumper it just sat there of no use. A later model of pumper could have drawn water from the millrace."Acquisition
