Description

County rock-crusher producing gravel for the McKenzie Highway; 1913. Emery Daughenbauger is on steam engine, road superintendant standing with bicycle. Ben Minney fed crusher with wheelbarrow loads of rocks to make gravel; taken 1 mile east of Vida on the McKenzie Highway. Donors father (Ike Whiteley) had 2 teams and 2 wagons. His brother Guy and other crew members were Audie Daughough, Nelson Coffey, Walt Post, "Daddy" Grayvoss. Were working to pay off poll tax. They paid $1.00 per day for driver and $1.00 per day for wagon and team. Scanned image, 300 ppi, Tif format, on disk 9
