General Franco’s military base was in Morocco, and Cádiz in southern Spain was a hotbed of pro-Nationalist sentiment from the beginning. On September 29, 1936, the Nationalist junta gave Franco the title Generalísimo, assuring that their victory would result in a Falangist military dictatorship, not a restoration of the monarchy or a clerical regime. On the front is a Nationalist military censor marking. A Falangist charity label on the back commemorates the date General Franco took absolute control of the Nationalist forces. The 2-centimos Spanish State (Nationalist) stamp paid the printed matter rate to Casablanca, June 20, 1938, but forwarding required additional postage denoted by the Moroccan postage due stamps.Collection
