Tan-pink drawing of inmate Escriba Moran from San Francisco. Black ink was used to write the information in the top left corner as well as draw the depiction of Moran. The body of Moran lies face down in electrified barbed wire. A pair of shoes and a jacket are laying beneath him at his feet. With his left hand, Moran held the wire on the fence post.

Conditions were extremely harsh at Gusen. Of 67,677 prisoners, 31,535 died. Besides being executed, beaten, or worked to death, some desperate prisoners took their own lives. On November 15, 1941, Spanish inmate Francisco Escriba Moran flung himself across the electrified barbed wire at the camp perimeter to die by electrocution. After liberation, this drawing was discovered attached to a typewritten report in camp files recording his suicide.Collection
