Born in 1937, Bert Reiner fled Germany with his family in March 1939. They found refuge in Shanghai, and during World War II, were isolated in the Shanghai ghetto. In 1950, they came to the United States and Bert settled in Connecticut working in the toy industry. Among his many patents, Bert developed an idea to mass-manufacture the Cabbage Patch Kids. Darla is unique as she is the one-millionth Cabbage Patch Kid to be produced in 1986.Collection
