Context

Flossenbürg, located near the Czech border in Southern Bavaria, opened May 3, 1938. It was liberated by the United States Army on April 23, 1945. A March 2, 1944, censored inmate’s letter from Flossenbürg to Łódź, Poland (renamed Litzmannstadt by the Nazis), on a prisoners’ formular lettersheet, and a September 22, 1944, waybill for a 3-kilogram parcel mailed from Grafenwöhr to a Nazi SS guard at Flossenbürg.
