After Germany had conquered and occupied the Sudetenland, plebiscites were scheduled for December 4 in areas where German and Czech populations were about equal, to determine the new frontiers. These 6-pfennig printed-to-private-order propaganda picture postal cards (one unused, showing the pictorial side, the other used, canceled December 31, 1938, at Hannover, with additional postage consisting of a set of two companion semi-postal stamps that commemorated the December 4 referendum) show the areas of Sudeten Czechoslovakia that were annexed to Germany, and below them the slogan, “We thank our leader.”Collection
