In each country conquered by Nazi Germany, postal authorities issued provisional stamps and stationery for use until regular postal issues could be prepared and distributed. After Luxembourg fell, German stamps were overprinted for use there beginning October 1, 1940, and previously issued stamps of Luxembourg, overprinted with German monetary denominations, became valid December 5, 1940. Regular German stamps without overprints replaced the stamps of Luxembourg on April 1, 1941. A postcard canceled December 22, 1941, at Luxembourg is franked with a 6-pfennig provisional overprinted stamp of Germany. A parcel waybill mailed at Luxenbourg on June 4, 1943, is franked with regular German definitive stamps.Collection
