Axis soldiers were held prisoner long after the war ended. The Soviet Union held more than any other country, requiring their labor as partial reparations for the devastation caused by those armies. A March 1948 formular post card went from a Hungarian or Romanian POW at Camp 7100/6 in the U.S.S.R. to Cluj, Romania (Koloszvar, Hungary, during the war), with the arrival postmark dated March 29. A September 16, 1948, formular reply post card went from the Soviet occupation zone of Germany to a German POW at Camp 2040 in the U.S.S.R.Collection
