With most of continental Europe devastated and millions homeless, the victorious powers established Displaced Persons camps (some former concentration camps) to provide food, shelter, and basic necessities of life to people uprooted by war. In this July 8, 1947, censored, postage free letter from the Bergen-Belsen Displaced Persons Camp in the British occupation zone of Germany, Feiga Graf, a Polish Jew, wrote to the Polish National Alliance in Chicago, hoping to obtain information about the fate of her relatives.Collection
