1943 September 1, Front side - Waybill to Flössenbürg prisoner.: Tan waybill printed in three languages (German, Polish, and French). Cursive handwriting in bluish-black ink. Two stamps are displayed at the top right. The stamp above depicts Adolf Hitler facing to the right. It is green and a 1 Reichsmark stamp. Below is a blue stamp depicting a town square and Reichsadler at the top right. It is a 50-pfennig stamp. Over top is a cancellation stamp dated September 1st, 1939. At the bottom right is the numbers 4575/20 in penciling.

Scope and Content

1943 September 1, waybill to Flössenbürg prisoner.

Context

Flossenbürg, located near the Czech border in Southern Bavaria, opened May 3, 1938. It was liberated by the United States Army on April 23, 1945. Below: a September 1, 1943, trilingual waybill from Poland accompanied a parcel containing two loaves of bread and one kilogram of cheese to a Flossenbürg prisoner.
