1942 September 2, Front side - Envelope addressed to Vojtèch Plesník at Sachsenhausen, sent by Karl Plesník.
Tan envelope with typed text in German using black ink. Below the recipient address is the location receiving the mail, crossed out with blue lines; it reads "Oranienburg Konzentrationslager bei Berlin, Deutsches Reich." Above the recipient address is a purple stamp in German stating "Zurück" or "Back" in English. The top right corner displays a red Bohemian and Moravian 1,20 koruna stamp. On top of the red stamp is a black cancellation stamp dated September 2nd, 1942.

Rules regarding mail were strictly enforced. Most of the time, prisoners at Sachsenhausen were allowed to receive two letters or cards per month. This was reduced to one card or one letter during 1941, when the SS guards were busy executing about 15,000 captured Red Army prisoners, and then restored to two per month in 1942 and later. A September 2, 1942, letter addressed to a Czech prisoner at Sachsenhausen was rejected and returned to the sender, because he had received his monthly quota before it arrived. The hand stamped marking on the back states, “Already received mail.”Collection
