Jewish assets were confiscated by the Nazi regime as the price of emigration, which required official documentation before departing Jews could secure exit visas. A January 30, 1939, tax clearance receipt issued by the Brigittenau Finance Office at Vienna, valid for two months, confirms that Rachele Klarberg may depart the country. An Austrian 1½-schilling revenue stamp issued before the Anschluss paid the documentary tax, equivalent to 1 German reichsmark. Besides the datestamp, it is canceled “Lager-Nr. 954” (Camp number 954).Collection
