White-yellow post card with printed German in black ink. Cursive handwriting in pencil is present. At the top right is a 60-pfennig stamp depicting Adolf Hitler facing to the left. At the top left corner is the name of the prisoner, Franziska Sojková handwritten in cursive. A cancellation dated June 17, 1943 is overtop the stamp.

Nazi officials selected the Bohemian town of Terezín (Theresienstadt in German), located about 50 kilometers from Prague, as the location for a prison where captured opponents of the Nazi regime were kept, and for a Jewish ghetto and transit center. Political prisoners were allowed to send and receive only one letter or card per month, so their mail is seldom seen. A May 20, 1940, field post card to a German soldier garrisoned at the Theresienstadt more than a year before the Nazis established a Jewish ghetto there. Anti-Nazi political prisoner Franziska Sojková mailed the formular post card to her sister Elia Divisová at Prague on June 17, 1943.Collection
