Ellie Grasse was born in 1929 in Bad Vöslau, Austria and fled with her family around 1938-1939. Ellie and her family arrived in China and lived in the Shanghai ghetto. Ellie met a Catholic U.S. Navy sailor in 1945 and in 1946 moved together to California where she lives today. Ellie was the manager of a department store and served as treasurer at her Catholic church for nearly 20 years. In retirement, Ellie enjoys playing golf and knitting dolls. In 2025, she knit a doll for the Spungen Family Foundation named Mellow-Yellow to play with Darla.Collection
