Lejb (Leon) Erlich was one of the prisoners interned at Mauthausen concentration camp or subcamps. Erlich was also a prisoner at Auschwitz-Birkenau until the camp was liberated in 1945 by the Soviet Red Army. Erlich immigrated to the United States where he lived until his death in 1987. Leon was a non-traditional student at the University of Toronto in 1976. The International Student Identification Card possessed by Leon was likely used during his trip abroad with his class peers.
