1940 June 17, Front side - Post card from Ravensburg to Bratislava.
White-yellow post card with printed German in green ink as the outline. Cursive handwriting in black ink is present. Two stamps depicting President Paul von Hindenburg in the top right corner. One stamp is a 10-pfennig red stamp and one stamp is a 6-pfennig green stamp. There are a few overprint stamps. One is a purple stamp with text "Zurück, unzulässig!" or "Return, not permitted!" in English.

Although Slovakia was a German puppet state, it was still regarded as a foreign entity. Postal regulations were strict. Mail to foreign countries could not be deposited in drop boxes; it had to be handed to a postal clerk so the sender could be known. A June 17, 1940, post card from Ravensburg to Bratislava was marked “Aus dem Briefkasten” (From the Letterbox) after collection, and that violation of the rules was sufficient cause for the censor at Vienna to reject it. It was marked, “Zurück, unzulässig!” (Return, forbidden!) and returned to the sender.Collection
