Scope and Content

1944 February 15, scrip worth 100-cents from Westerbork transit camp.

Context

Designed by a Jewish inmate (Werner Löewenhardt). He was ordered to make the money look “industrial” to encourage people to work hard and create the image that Westerbork was a productive place. Printed on watermark paper but depending on how the sheets were cut, some pieces show more of the watermark than others.
