Description

Hippocrates (460 BCE to 370 BCE) was a Greek physician during the "classical Greece" period and was responsible for a huge advancement in the field of medicine. He is considered the "Father of Medicine". He established medicine as a separate field distinct from theology and philosophy. His "Hippocratic Oath" which is still pledged by most medical students today at graduation encourages all physicians to behave ethically. The collection of the 60 medical documents (that includes the Hippocratic oath) is called the Hippocratic Corpus.
