Dr. Koch discovered Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, the cause of tuberculosis, and in 1905 won the Nobel Science prize for it. He also described Koch’s Postulates, the set of criteria needed to prove a particular disease was caused by a particular organism.
Selman Waxman discovered Streptomycin in 1943, the first agent that cured tuberculosis and halted the wave of tuberculosis (consumption) in Europe in 1949.
