Description

1913 - Fleisher Stethoscope. This stethoscope was developed by and named after Andrew W. "Doc" Fleischer, a pharmacist who joined Becton Dickinson and Company, a medical device import company, in 1921. He gained fame for developing the blood-pressure instrument. He also improved the stethoscope, experimenting until he developed one that reduced extraneous sounds and allowed physicians to monitor heart sounds more accurately.
