The Violet Ray came into use during the beginning of the 20th century as a treatment to delay. the aging process. The high voltage generated by a Tesla coil would ionize a inert gas sealed in glass wands turning violet. Placing the device next to the body would produce a slight shock and tingling sensation claimed to treat insomnia, headaches, nervousness along with numerous other maladies.
