Context

The Allegheny Arsenal was the first to begin printing labels on munitions in 1861. It supplied the US Army, and the Union. In 1862 multiple explosions at the Allegheny Arsenal killed about 70 people, and completely leveled the buildings. Some believe there was foul play, but the likely cause was uncontained gunpowder in the air being ignited.
