The Read Ferson Homestead (1970). View of front of home from road with snow on ground.
NOTE: At one time homestead occupied entire block between Main Street and Cedar Avenue,
3rd and 4th Avenues. The house was built in 1852. Read Ferson was one of three (3)
individuals laid out the original property lines of the East side of St. Charles. It's
interesting to note that the home sites chosen by these three owners were almost in
line with each other. The Ferson dwelling being just across the street from the Hunt
house and the Minard house nearby.
