Rocking chair; light wood; carving on back and arms, back and seat upholstered in pink flowered fabric; "This rocking chair was owned by Prudence Ward. She was the first teacher in St. Charles in 1834. Her parents built and lived in a large house in Pottawatomie Park. Prudence Ward also became the first bride in town. She was married to Dean Ferson in 1835. The Fersons, at their departure, gave the chair to Mrs. Ellen Healy Modine. Mrs. Modine, at her departure, gave the chair to the museum."Lexicon
