Originally this was the Wenz Shoe & Boot store.
Fredrick J. Wenz, born in Germany, was a shoe manufacturer. Mr Wenz had a shoe & boot factory located on Edmond, between Main & 1st street. He built this building to sell his shoes & boots. Besides his shoes, he also sold Buster Brown shoes which were made in St Louis.
In the 2nd photo, the name WENZ is clearly visible in the ornate stonework.
This was Bob Bell's Grocery from 1950's to the mid 1980's.
