SHAMROCK BOARDING HOUSE
1517 S 6th Street
The Shamrock House (Boarding House) was located at 1517 S 6th Street (near NE corner of 6th & Monterey) just down the street from the Union Depot. It also had a saloon/tavern attached or right next to the boarding house. William Loftus was the proprietor until he died in 1883, his wife, Bridget, continued to operate the establishment. She remarried in 1887 and her husband John Flynn took over. William's son became the bartender. Bridget died in 1891 and the property went to the Loftus estate. The estate administrator operated the establishment until it was sold in 1912.
