The 1979 Pony Express Race sponsored by the British Post office took place on the actual trail from July 14 to August 22, 1979. The purpose was to mark the death of Sir Rowland Hill who invented the adhesive postal stamp. The winner of the race received a 1920 Hallmark silver trophy, the "Sir Rowland Hill cup." Race involved 12 riders. The book is a photocopy of various news media clippings and articles. Appears that other riders joined the ride at various times.
