Before Urban Renewal, both Frederick Avenue & Felix Street joined at an 8th Street intersection
Looking east from about Felix in the 1890's
The largest building in the photograph, the gothic building on the right, was the Irish-American Building at 1002 Jules
It was built in 1886 and razed shortly after the construction of the current city hall
The Messanie streetcar traveled on 8th Street to Frederick to Francis to 12th
It took 12th south to Messanie, turned east, and went to "Holman Heights"
