Terri Is the Executive Director of the Missouri Association of Student Councils (MASC), recently received an appointment as president of the National Association of State Student Council Executive Directors, and also serves on the National Association of Student Councils Executive Board. Besides these duties and her unwavering Irish spirit, she is also known for her fabulous cooking. Over the years, Lafayette students and staff have enjoyed Terri's love of entertaining and down-home cooking. Some of Terri's favorite recipes are included in this book. She truly "bleeds green" and for her dedication to the Northside and especially to Lafayette High School, we thank her. Mrs. Johnson, as you begin your retirement, we leave you with your favorite quote: 'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.' Muriel Strode Our thanks also go to the students, parents, staff, alumni and friends of the Northside schools who generously contributed their favorite recipes. Without their help, this book would have never been possible. We hope you will enjoy the many outstanding and treasured recipes on the following pages." On the fifth page it talks a little about each school in the Northside area it reads "Lafayette High school has served the St. Joseph community since 1917. We have a fine staff and advanced state-of-the-art equipment. The staff is committed to the positive development of the students during high school and as they begin their adult lives. We are proud of the active involvment and commitment of our alumni and welcome continued participation of former students. Students and staff distinguish themselves in academics and extra-curricular activities. Lafayette was selected as a recipient of an A+ school grant, which provides substantial state funding. Joseph Robidoux Accelerated Middle School, named after the famous trader/trapper who founded St. Joseph in 1826, is the newest middle school in our community. Robidoux has a history of strong academic, athletic and special programs. Built in 1974 on a beautiful five-acre campus, Robidoux has 26 classrooms, two modern computer labs, a science lab, library, outdoor classroom and courtyard area. The staff of Robidoux, recognizing that each student reach his or her potential and achieve success. Humboldt Accelerated School was built in 1860. This historical building has much character and provides a warm school climate. Humboldt has a Title 1 school-wide program. Charles A. Lindbergh Accelerated School was erected in 1931. An addition was constructed in 1962, which provided an additional eight classrooms. Lindbergh is proud of its active and supportive PTA and our 'Blue Ribbon' volunteer program, which has received district-wide recognition the past six school years. In 1815, the Green Valley School (now Pershing Elementary) was built at the southeast corner of Rock Springs and Blackwell Roads. In 1925, a new brick and stone structure was built. It was called the 'model school.' In 1929 it was decided to rename the school in honor of the WWI Army General from Missouri, John J. Pershing, who headed the American Expeditionary Forces. Additions were made in 1953 and 1963 when the front half of the building was added. After the bond election in 2001, a new gymnasium and stage were built and the kitchen remodeled. Pershing holds a distinction that no other school has. The area was not annexed until 1926, but the school, from its beginning, was always a part of the St. Joseph School District."
