An Official Memorandum - Missouri Division of Mental Health. From George Glore to Dave Farrar, Subject - Museum Items and Transfer, dated July 21, 1975Context
I have four pieces of wicker furniture which is being transferred from the patient library to the museum. This furniture has been replaced in the library with the new vinyl furniture in the lounge.
The Buchanan County Historical Society is planning a display downtown depicting various early industries. One of those early industries was the manufacture of wicker furniture in the Occupational Therapy Department of the hospital. The furniture was sold to the public. I would like to loan these four wicker pieces to the Historical Society to become part of a permanent display in the old Noma Light building which the society recently purchased. The pieces would remain on the museum inventor even though on a permanent loan. I spoke with Dr. O'Brien regarding this, and he agreed that it would be a proper route to take.
If you foresee any problem in our making this loan, please advise.
I also have several pieces of equipment including an examining chair, old instruments, and old books on osteopathy that were donated to the museum several years ago by Rachel Hartsock when her husband died. She gave them to us with the understanding that if we could not use them, we would pass them on. At that time, we were considering doing a section of the museum pertaining to the history of medicine. We have since abandoned that idea. The equipment to which I refer has never been assigned a property control number, nor has it been inventoried. Would there be any problem in our passing on this equipment to Buchanan County Historical Society? I would like to clear-out some of this stuff as early as possible.Dimensions
