I will touch on highlights of this year's Auction momentarily, but first I want to draw your attention to our annual guide to great wine values - - the Auction catalogue. Those of you who have received past volumes will recall that this handsomely-bound book is truly a collector's item. . . . . . . The catalogue price at the door of Preview Tastings will be $10.00 per copy. Your catalogue will serve as your invitation to any or all of the Preview Tastings, ads well as the Auction itself. There will be no separate invitations. . . . . A feature of this year's Auction will show what truly may be described as the paired "Golden Ages of Wine," . . . . . . -over- Now, let me share with you briefly my thoughts on what may be the more important aspects of this year's 12,000-bottle Auction contents: --The Heublein Centennial Collection. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Heublein Inc. . . . .It numbers some 2,000 bottles. -- The Col. Leon Mandel Collection. One of Chicago's mercantile giants in his era, . . . . . Included are the outstanding vintages of . . . . . . . . and 1868 Tokay Essence. -- Rare, Mature Old Vintages from Beaulieu Vineyard. Three decades of excellence are represented here. . . . . This is the first offering of library reserve bottles and the first from Carneros Pinot Noir vineyard. -- Library Sampler Selections From Inglenook Vineyards. Here we have the very best old vintages of Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon . . . . all significant years . . A special prize may be 12 bottles of earthquake vintage . . . Finally, don't overlook an offering of magnificent 1973 vintage . . . -- Mature Wines of Great Value. These wines, all of the 1964 vintage that was long in maturing, have now come of age and represent the production of respected vineyards in . . . More than 6,000 bottles are offered. . . . I do hope you will find these contents as intriguing as we did while assembling them. May I add that the above thumbnail sketches respresent only a small part of the many fine wines detailed in our Auction catalogue. Sincerely,
