Asleep at Pearl Harbor, Kansas City Star, January 35, 1942
News photos of Admiral Husband E. Kimmel commander in chief of the fleet, and Lieut Gen. Walter C. Short commanding general of the Hawaiian department of the army, who are accused by the commission investigating the Pearl Harbor raid of dereliction of duty. The report to President Roosevelt stresses the fact that there was no co-operation between army and navy leaders at our Pacific stronghold. Amazing laxity is indicated.
