Description

Barns of the U.S.A. through the interest of the author, Wilson L. Wells, as he traveled by car through the Midwest States. He took pictures and entertained clubs and societies with his pictures. It was suggested that he do a book. He asked owners of barns to help him with pictures and history of the barns. He did not get the response he hoped for, but still produced an interesting book with the cooperation of newspapers, historical societies, interested county agents, postmasters, county assessors, city assessors, city clerks and others. The book is divided alphabetically into states and cities. Among the Missouri barns are the Rankin Mule Barn in Tarkio; the Pony Express Stable and the George Chambers barn in St. Joseph. Other barns of Northwest Missouri are near Fairfax and Hamilton and in Harrison County. 200/Hardbound/Photographs
