Notes

These small baskets are likely trinket baskets. The colored fibers are dyed using natural sources. -Zulu: Use Ilala palm fronds and dye them with mud, flowers, charcoal, bark, roots, and other materials. They also use specific roots, leaves, and berries to obtain a variety of colors. -Bayei and Hambukushu (Botswana): Use bark and roots from two different trees, along with decomposing sorghum husks and shrub leaves, to create colors for their baskets made from mokola palm tree fiber. -Tutsi (Rwanda): Used banana flowers for black and the root and seeds of the Urukamgi plant for red
